Welcome to our classroom!

We are excited to start a new school year. So far we have done a ton of exploring, routines, and learning! For our first blog post each group picked one area of our room to showcase for you!

Blue Group: The Cubbies
We are lovely first graders and we love our closet. It keeps our stuff away from us so we can work. I like taking pictures of my backpack because its rain proof.

Orange Group: nametags
We love them. We like them.I like that it has my name.

Pink Group: Stuffed animals
We like stuffed animals and stuffed animals are nice and comfy. Stuffed animals are cute. We use them to play with or to read with.

Yellow Group: Books
The books are for reading. The thing we like about the books is we get to read the books with the stuffed animals and the books have really good pictues in them and we like reading them.

Green Group: The tallies
We like the good ones and we don't like the bad ones. Whenever we're good we have to get good tallies or else we don't get to fill out a letter.

It hasn't blogged this year.....

What is it?

It's our class!!!! We (meaning I) took a small break from the blogging world. We've had a lot of new "things" at our school and in our district that I focused my energy on. This included starting school-wide reading interventions, and with a new curriculum, as well as math interventions, a new testing program district wide, and a school-wide behavior matrix with ticket system. whew.....

So now that we are in the swing of things. I've decided to get back into this blogging and show my kiddos what it's like to do all that it entails. Welcome to our first installment: Describing Things (in our Classroom).

 Thanks for checking us out. We will continue to work on describing. Next stop....describing places!

Memories and Words of Advice to Start the Year

You guessed it, the 2016-2017 school year has officially started. As I looked forward to welcoming a new batch of first graders I also scanned the hallways for those familiar faces from last year. I couldn't wait to hear about their summer adventures and their hopes for the upcoming year. As I met my new little kiddos I remembered all of the fond memories and advice last year's group left for this year's group. Enjoy the awesomeness that was my last group.

Kid Bloggin' Thursday

From the teacher: Hey all! Thanks for stopping by the blog today. Our class worked in groups to give you this great blog post. This week groups had the responsibility of choosing topics, writing about their topic, taking pictures, adding the blog logo AND typing their content! They did amazing. This month we have a book tournament.The Pigeon Needs A Bath Is v.s I Can Read With My Eyes Shut. The tournament is big.There are a lot of books.Can I Play Too beat Happy Birthday To You.

There are red ,blue ,green I pods. The iPods are fun! The iPods are pretty. They tell weather.we use them for listening center.

Typed by the teacher Flowers have foots. Flowers are pretty. Flowers have stems. Flowers also journal. We planted rye grass. We love science!! Now we are planting wheat.

Kid Bloggin': Descriptives

Hey everyone! Last week we worked on describing words. As we studied different ways to use describing words I challenged students to create sentences about an object in our room. The challenge was, they couldn't just give a simple sentence. They had to show their progression of a detailed sentence. Behold their work!
